My cat does this on mirrored closet doors. I just figured it was a portal to another dimension that I can’t see.

  2. Mine does it at the windows when he wants me to open them. I’ve always assumed it’s a cat’s way of trying to get to the other side of whatever it thinks leads to something better.

  3. My cat does this and is a basket licker it drives me bonkers. That sound that it makes and goes on for 30 minutes? I’m about to start licking baskets with him!

  4. hmmm there could be a couple of reasons BUT im pretty sure hes probably trying to dig his way out of the house to get away from that annoying and ear splitting voice

  5. “Cats have scent glands in their paw pads, so when they scratch or rub their paws on a surface, they’re depositing their scent, and ‘marking’ it as their own. … Your cat might also see herself in the mirror or a smooth surface where she can see her reflection, and is pawing at it to see if it’s another cat.”

  6. They think it’s a door and are trying to get you to open it, at least that’s the impression I got from past experience

  7. Saaaame, one of my cats does it to mirrors and only one door in the house, and another does it to the outside of the litterbox lol
