Mine does it at the windows when he wants me to open them. I’ve always assumed it’s a cat’s way of trying to get to the other side of whatever it thinks leads to something better.
My cat does this and is a basket licker it drives me bonkers. That sound that it makes and goes on for 30 minutes? I’m about to start licking baskets with him!
hmmm there could be a couple of reasons BUT im pretty sure hes probably trying to dig his way out of the house to get away from that annoying and ear splitting voice
“Cats have scent glands in their paw pads, so when they scratch or rub their paws on a surface, they’re depositing their scent, and ‘marking’ it as their own. … Your cat might also see herself in the mirror or a smooth surface where she can see her reflection, and is pawing at it to see if it’s another cat.”
Probably trying to tunnel away from your very annoying voice.
Just another day fighting demons in your home no worries
You want us to explain cats. Anyone that thinks cats can be explained doesn’t own a cat.
My cat does this in the tub.
Your cat does that, my cat licks the curtains
Mine does it on the sides of the litter box, not in the litter, but the sides of the box lol
When we have explained the entire mysteries of the universe we still be asking ourselves what is my cat thinking?
My cat does this on mirrored closet doors. I just figured it was a portal to another dimension that I can’t see.
Yup mine does this on everything – especially boxes.
Cause it’s a cat, and they do cat things. Never try to explain a cat. Lol

Mine do that on my bedroom door. Every morning when they think they should be fed and I’m not awake yet
Mine does this as well. Any shiny, smooth, semi-reflective surface.
Probably a couple of reasons.
Felt like it.
It annoys you.
Why not.
They think it’s a door and are trying to get you to open it, at least that’s the impression I got from past experience
Our kitten does this on the ground right in front of the water dish before he drinks it David Lopez
Its marking territory
Mine use to do it so i did some research
I have one that does that to mirrors and windows.
my old girl used to lick the hair wax off my hair after i had washed it and styled it
My cats do that on the windows when nothing is there.
Mine does this to the bathtub and the basin. Its frickin weird but he looks so determined to get it done!
My cat did this when she wanted in.
I have a coyote that can solve your problem..lol
Just kidding
It’s just a cat thing
my cat loves doing that
Saaaame, one of my cats does it to mirrors and only one door in the house, and another does it to the outside of the litterbox lol
