There are rules in Waffles’ house, and “sleeping in” is definitely not one of them. The orange cat has very specific ideas about when everyone else should be awake, where Maple should be lying, and how late mom is allowed to stay up. A video shared by @thegoldenbreakfastclub catches the 10-year-old polydactyl cat enforcing those rules with plenty of meowing and a little bit of attitude. His biggest problem this week? The spare human is sleeping in. This cat just won’t let her owner sleep. Maple staying in bed was also unacceptable. And once Waffles gets started, there always seems to be another household violation waiting for his attention.
Cat disapproves of the spare human sleeping while he’s still awake
Waffles starts the week’s complaint list with “The Spare sleeping in.” The cat clearly dislikes his owner sleeping in, so he lets out several very unhappy meows. Mom calls him out for bullying. Waffles simply turns around and walks across the bed. Next victim: Maple.
The Golden Retriever is lying comfortably in her own bed when Waffles marches over and starts meowing at her, too. The text explains that Maple is “also not allowed to still be in bed.” She even gets a little nip before mom steps in again.
Waffles is not thrilled when dad later removes him from Maple’s vicinity. He gets picked up and immediately starts complaining from his “air jail,” while Maple gets excited and jumps around below him.
A closed door comes next on the list. Waffles sits beside it, making his feelings known until mom finally opens it. In the next clip, the offense is that Maple makes eye contact. Waffles comes down from his climbing shelves and lunges toward her, sending Maple several steps backward. His evening does not improve when the spare has friends over. Waffles retreats beneath the couch to his “sensory spot,” where he can hide away from all the activity.
And then it is 10:07 p.m. Waffles is standing in front of mom’s face, pawing at her and meowing because bedtime has been missed by seven whole minutes. He even throws in a huge yawn. Mom doesn’t move, so Waffles goes to dad instead and starts asking him to go to bed.
The 77,700 likes on this funny cat video suggest plenty of people understand what it is like to live with an opinionated cat. One called him running a “tight ship,” while another said, “The spare human can’t do nothing right EVER!!”
