We had a cat that did this. When she went outside she would launch herself from a foot back from the door to way past the step into the lawn. She was also very cautious walking thru the living room after we picked up the stuff scattered on the floor. She needed the right amount of clutter ir she would pat the floor before she took a step, like she was checking if it was safe. We thought she must have been far sited, and that’s why she jumped thru doorways, she was jumping to where she could see. The patting the floor thing was because there wasn’t a book or shoe to prove to her the floor was there even if she couldn’t see it very well. Poor baby made us laugh and she was just trying to figure out if the floor was still there.
