The story behind the wings: I had seen a photo of a black kitten wearing bat wings; a viral photo all over the Internet. Ashby reminded me of that kitten and, just for fun, I listed the wings on our Amazon foster kitten wishlist. One day bat wings showed up! Ashby was not bothered by them and they were not left on her (nor left out, unsupervised). .
