These terms cover your use of welovekitties.com (the “site”), run by We Love Kitties (“we”, “us”). By using the site, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
1. What the site is
We Love Kitties is a free gallery of cat photos and stories, for information and entertainment. The site has three kinds of content:
- Our archive: stories and photos collected since the site began, many of them gathered from around the web, including Reddit, Instagram, and cat blogs. We credit the source where we know it.
- Linked pins: short quotes from stories on other cat websites, with a link to the full story. Their photos are shown directly from those websites.
- Reader submissions: photos and stories that readers share with us through Share your cat.
2. Other people’s content
Photos, stories, and articles that came from other people still belong to them, and we don’t claim ownership of them. If something of yours appears on the site and you’d like it credited differently or removed, tell us (see section 9) and we’ll fix it quickly.
3. Sharing your cat
When you send us a photo and story through Share your cat:
- You promise that you took the photo or have permission to share it, that the story is your own, and that neither shows anyone’s private information or anything unlawful. You also promise that you’re 13 or older, with a parent or guardian’s OK if you’re under 18.
- You keep ownership of your photo and story.
- You give us permission to publish them, with the name you gave, on welovekitties.com and on our Facebook, Bluesky, and Pinterest pages. This includes resizing or cropping the photo, and shortening or correcting the story. The permission is free of charge and not exclusive, and it lasts until you ask us to take your submission down.
- We choose what to publish. We may decline any submission without giving a reason, and we may remove a published one later.
- You can change your mind. Ask us anytime to take your submission down, and we’ll remove it from the site and from our own social media posts. We can’t control copies other people have already saved or shared, such as pins saved on Pinterest.
4. Comments
Comments are public, and a new commenter’s first comment waits for our approval. Please be kind and stay on topic. Don’t post advertising or links promoting other sites, hateful or harassing remarks, anyone’s private information, or anything unlawful. We may remove any comment and block anyone who breaks these rules. You must be 13 or older to comment.
5. Using the site
Please don’t:
- use the site for anything unlawful;
- try to get into parts of the site or its systems you aren’t meant to reach, or disrupt the site or its servers;
- copy large parts of the site with bots or scrapers, or send forms automatically;
- reuse our original content commercially without our written permission.
You’re always welcome to share links to our pages and to save pins to Pinterest with the site’s Save buttons.
6. Our content
The site’s design and logo, and the text and pictures we create ourselves, belong to We Love Kitties. Please don’t copy or republish them without our written permission, apart from sharing links and pins as described above.
7. Links and other websites
The site links to other websites, and linked pins show photos straight from the publishers’ websites. We don’t control those websites and aren’t responsible for their content or for how they handle your information; their own terms and privacy policies apply. When you share or save something on Facebook, Pinterest, Bluesky, or another network, that network’s terms apply too.
8. No veterinary advice, and no warranties
Stories about cat health, behavior, and care are general information, not veterinary advice. If you’re worried about your cat, please talk to a veterinarian.
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We don’t promise that it will always be available, secure, or free of errors. We also don’t promise that its content, including content from other people, is accurate, complete, or current.
9. Copyright complaints
We respect other people’s work. If you believe something on the site infringes your copyright, send a notice to [email protected] or through the Contact page. Include:
- the work you believe is infringed;
- the address of the page on the site where it appears;
- your name, postal address, email address, and phone number;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn’t authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
- a statement, made under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for them;
- your physical or electronic signature.
We’ll respond promptly, and remove or disable access to the content when appropriate. You can also simply ask us to credit or remove your work, without a formal notice.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, We Love Kitties and its owners and operators aren’t liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site. That includes any loss of data, revenue, or profits, even if we were told such losses were possible.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what information the site collects and how it’s used. It’s part of these terms.
12. Changes
We may change the site, or stop offering any part of it, at any time. We may also update these terms, and when we do, we’ll change the date at the top. If you keep using the site after an update, you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any dispute about them, or about your use of the site, will be resolved in the appropriate courts in the United States.
