It takes Venus about five seconds to realize that his toy is not coming anywhere with him, and he is clearly not ready to accept that. The orange cat has the toy firmly in his mouth, but its string leads all the way up to the top of a door, creating a problem he spends the rest of the video trying to solve. The clip shared by @amysmithanthony catches Venus pawing at the string, backing up, lying down, and pulling with everything he has. His mom can hardly stop laughing as he keeps trying different ways to get the toy free.
Cat pulls at a doorframe toy, determined to take it wherever he goes
The video starts with Venus already holding the toy in his mouth. The string runs away from him, but he seems focused on one thing: taking the toy with him. He paws at the toy and string first. Nothing. So he backs up and pulls harder. That gives Mom a chance to show just how far the string has stretched, all the way from Venus to the top of the door.
“Look at how frickin’ far he has this thing stretched,” she says. Venus keeps pulling anyway. He even lies down at one point, gripping the toy while trying to create more tension. Mom is clearly impressed by the effort and laughs about his “determination,” joking that he might actually rip the toy down from the ceiling.
The cat continues to pull at the door toy as Mom explains that Venus is much bigger now than he was the last time she filmed him playing with the toy. This time, the tension in the string starts working against him. When Venus pulls, it actually drags him toward the place where the toy is attached. The cat gets back up and starts the tug-of-war again.
He eventually walks toward the door, easing the tension without actually giving up the toy. Mom laughs and says she thinks he knows what will happen if he lets go. He still refuses until the toy finally slips from his mouth. It springs back toward the door, and Venus immediately lunges after it.
This funny cat toy video gained over 319,000 likes. One viewer said the video was actually too short, while another admitted they were waiting for Venus to slink back across the floor. It really was funny to see the cat’s determination turn an ordinary doorframe toy into a surprisingly serious project.
