Three weeks of keeping her distance, and Gabby suddenly decides Sara’s legs are a perfectly good place to settle. The foster cat is sitting by her feet while Sara relaxes on the couch when she shifts her little body closer and leans against her.

It’s the Calico’s first cuddle with her foster mom, and even Gabby seems to know she has done something special. A tiny paw eventually comes to rest on Sara’s leg, and an ordinary evening turns into a moment Sara is not likely to forget.

Gabby stays leaned against Sara while they watch TV together. She isn’t asking for anything more. She’s simply comfortable enough to stay close, which is a pretty big deal after three weeks together. Sara’s face says the rest.
In another shot, she has both hands over her mouth because she’s trying not to scream with excitement. Meanwhile, Gabby is calmly lying beside her as though this is completely normal. Then there’s that little paw resting on Sara’s leg.
That alone would have been enough, but Dunder notices what’s happening. The resident cat walks over to inspect the situation, apparently realizes someone has taken his usual place with mom, and promptly runs away. There’s even a slow-motion replay of his exit.
Gabby looks back at Sara, almost as if she’s wondering what just happened. Dunder eventually returns and decides he can live with the arrangement. He climbs onto the table, makes his way over, and settles on Sara’s belly.
Soon the pet mom has both cats with her: Dunder stretched across her chest and Gabby sleeping beside her legs. The text calls it the “best group cuddle of my life,” and that feels like a pretty fair assessment.
Gabby’s story makes the moment even more meaningful. She had been surrendered by her family and was entering foster care for the first time. Sara had introduced her by promising, “You are safe now,” while sharing how emotional Gabby’s situation had made her feel.
