Dad has two kids settled in his arms, a truck book open in front of them, and then Chase, the cat, wanders over to see what everyone is doing. He gets a quick “Hello Chase” before sitting beneath the recliner’s armrest and letting out a few meows. Dad takes the hint and tells him, “C’mon, join us.” That’s all Chase needs. In the @dontstopmeowing video, the cat joins story time and promptly tries several different places to sit, read, and collect his share of kisses. The nursery suddenly has one more very interested listener.

The video has received 18.8k likes, and viewers are clearly enjoying Chase’s determination to be included. He jumps onto the armrest, although there isn’t much room with Jazelle tucked into Dad’s other arm. She turns her head to look at him while dad keeps reading to her and toddler Taj.
Dad finishes a fun part of the truck story and asks Jazelle if she liked it. She gets a kiss on the head, then dad turns to Chase and asks whether he liked the story, too. Chase gets his own kiss on the snout, followed by Taj. The cat eventually decides the armrest isn’t the best reading spot and climbs onto the back of the recliner instead. He hangs out there for a while, jumps down, and gets another kiss.
Chase then attempts to walk along the armrest, stepping over Jazelle’s outstretched arm as he makes his way across. There are more kisses for everyone, too. This time Chase gets his first, then Taj, then Jazelle. That’s when Jazelle turns toward Chase and opens her mouth. The caption says, “Not Jazelle trying to eat him,” which pretty much explains that little moment. Someone in the comments said Jazelle was also trying to kiss Chase.
Later, he returns to the top of the chair and settles down properly. It actually looks like a much better place for listening. And dad ends up reading to the children and the cat.
One viewer of the video called him “the baby of the family,” while another said, “Chase is a human being.” It’s a lovely little cat and baby video because nobody makes a big production out of Chase being there. Dad simply makes room for him, gives him some attention, and carries on reading.
