Martin is all dressed up for the snow when his human calls, “Martelin,” from across the room. The orange rescue cat immediately looks up and pads toward the door in his cozy red sweater, complete with tiny pom-poms and a harness. In the video shared by @_thelittlepawsies_, his tiny paws tap across the wooden floor as his human laughs and waits for him to arrive.
The sweet nickname clearly means something special to Martin, who knows exactly what it means when his person calls him. It may be a simple throwback moment, but knowing how much his life has changed since being rescued makes his snowy adventure all the more heartwarming.
Rescue cat wears his cozy sweater and harness for a snowy afternoon walk
Martin’s human had the cat bundled up in his winter outfit and harness because Vienna was covered in snow that day. He looks ready enough for the outing, although the little red sweater and pom-poms make him considerably cuter than prepared. When his human calls him, Martin walks toward the door, and those tiny taps from his paws can be heard clearly. She laughs as he gets closer, and the moment feels completely unhurried.
There is a lot more to Martin’s snowy cat walk than the outfit, though. He spent around a decade wandering through a village after his previous owners left him following a separation and divorce. A woman in the village fed him sometimes, but he had no real home.
When his future family heard about him, they took him to the vet. He had kidney failure, severe arthritis, back injuries, cataracts, dehydration, and other health problems. They were told that many people would not take in a cat his age and condition. They did anyway. Over the next two years, Martin changed. He had to learn how to play and cuddle again after spending so long on his own.
That makes this especially lovely. He finally had someone calling his nickname, getting him into his little winter outfit, and taking him out for a walk in the snow. The video has more than 4,000 likes, with viewers remembering his tiny footsteps and the way he seemed happy to go wherever his person went. Martin passed away earlier this year, but moments like this remain.
